About this Golf Course
Jack Nicklaus has other designs, even some just a few miles away. But take any of his projects around the globe and none will compare to Long Bay Golf Club.
Set just outside the heart of Myrtle Beach in Longs, this course blends the feel of East and West Coast play, starting with the environment. The Golden Bear minimized the effect Long Bay would have on the location, helping it recently garner 4.5 Stars from Golf Digest’s “Places to Play.” Nicklaus and Co. kept many of the existing dogwoods, pines and maples along the course, and crystal-blue streams cut through several holes.
When not enchanted by that aspect of Long Bay, players must navigate a variety of bunker styles, as well as considerable elevation differences. Throw in some shallow greens, and it was clear Nicklaus wasn’t intending Long Bay to be a relative walk in the park – even if at times that’s exactly where you believe you are.
